Damanhur is using the naivety of its guests to create new promotional channels via Facebook.
Their new target is Scandinavia and both of the current Damanhur groups on Facebook have been created by Scandinavians with no or little experience of life in the Community. They are busy encouraging their own nationals to visit Damanhur and are promoting its activities and events through these groups.
Various people have tried to intervene in both Damanhur groups by posting warnings of various kinds and more recently with links to this site. The creators of the Danish group have decided to censor all contributions questioning the nature of Damanhur on the grounds that it is ’off topic’ and not good ‘netiquette’, preferring to concentrate on their promotional activities. They are unwittingly (we hope) encouraging young people to visit the Community and take the first step in the recruitment process.
From the comments posted it is obvious that the site creators are being guided by the Damanhur PR and marketing office and have been advised to ‘clean up’ the site as soon as critical posts appear.
OK, they have created the groups… just so long as we are all clear about what is happening…
Meanwhile the group, ‘club anti-damanhur’ created by Italians who live in the area around Damanhur welcomes posts from people with different points of view in a spirit of open debate.
Here is a post from Facebook member Luca Santo addressed to the Danish group which has found a safe haven on the anti-damanhur group site.
If you are searching for reliable information on Damanhur in English
English speakers are now being targeted by Damanhur’s marketing teams because Italian forums have alerted their nationals to the dangers of being involved with this group.
Help us to spread the word in English by posting links to the ‘Damanhur inside out’ site wherever you can.
This information can save lives.
Just a quick update. I posted the above message in the Damanhur Denmark group on Facebook in the hope of reaching a few people with the truth that the ex-Damanhurians have revealed to us here in Italy.
The reaction has been to throw me out of the group and ban me from posting there. The creators of that group must have more interest in making money out of the Danish by running trips to Damanhur and hosting Damanhur seminars than they have in hearing about what really goes on inside the Community.
In the end what can you do…the information is out there to help people…if they don’t want to read it…
As Seth Godin said:
“People don’t believe what you tell them
They rarely believe what you show them
They often believe what their friends tell them
They always believe what they tell themselves.”
